Tristan: Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I definitely see your point about creativity, sales and marketing being America's strong suit, and you're right, the pending shift is not something that is discussed as much as it should be, especially in how we are (not) teaching the next generation to adapt to their potential inherited work environment.

First of all, thanks for attending the session and thanks for the write-up. My vision is a little more nuanced than just looking for an American filled only with a creative class. As a way to elaborate the point, my belief is that the low end of the development work will eventually shift overseas (at least the part that hasn't yet) and thus America needs to start thinking about moving upstream. Creativity, sales, and marketing, are what Americans are known for and what they do best. As such, those represent natural niches for America on the global stage. I would reccomend fostering those areas until we find new opportunities for America. As I said on-stage, I don't have all the answers but the first step in solving the problem is recognizing that it exist and discussing it. Little of that discussion seems to happen in America these days and I fear that this could become a grave threat to the future economic prosperity of the country.
